Clinic Students, Amaari and Aseanti

Recently I was blessed to be able to interview two lovely young ladies, Amaari and Aseanti Daniels-Frith. We first had the pleasure of working with these precious twins in 2008 at one of our Beginning Speed Events Clinics. They were 7 yrs old at that time. Having just celebrated their 12th birthday this week, it was great catching up with them and seeing what they've been up to!

Shala: I was thrilled to see the pic your mom posted of you on fb in your Angelsong T-shirt recently. She told me y'all wouldn't allow her to get rid of them.

Amaari: I wouldn't let my mom throw it out because it's how I remember my first time riding a horse.

Aseanti: I never want to forget what I learned with Angelsong, and my shirt reminds me of that day.

Shala: What kind of impact has your time with Angelsong made in your life?

Amaari: The impact that it made on my life is that it made me stronger, more brave, and more confident. I'm a daredevil now.

Aseanti: Angelsong influenced me to keep trying and look for the best no matter what.

Shala: What did it represent to you and what good things did you gain from that time?

Aseanti: Angelsong represented confidence, perseverance, passion, and strength. It really boosted my confidence and helped me get out of being shy.

Amaari: It represents strength and courage. I gained memories that won't go away, a love for horses, and it helped me learn how to keep trying. Now, when I do gymnastics, I keep trying and don't give up.

Shala: How do you see your life being different because of your involvement?

Aseanti: My life is better because I see myself always reaching for the stars and never letting anything stop me.

Amaari: My life is better because I don't fear new things anymore. I know I can do anything I put my mind to.

One of the highlights of Chandler Rodeo time is knowing these gals are going to find me somewhere during the weekend. They're always grinning from ear to ear, have their cowgirl hats on, and give me a big hug. The girls have gone on to accomplish wonderful things. They attend school at Oklahoma Virtual Charter Accademy and are in the 6th grade. Amaari has been on the Superintendent's Honor Roll every year and won Miss Congeniality in an NAACP Pageant in November; and Aseanti has received Academic Excellence, and just won her first pageant for the NAACP. We are so proud of you girls! Keep up the great work!

Student Leader, Sara Atwood

I wish I could tell you I am a perfect little girl, but then I would be lying. My name is Sara Marie Atwood, and I am Angelsong Ministries Student Leader. My story isn’t like everyone else’s, and if you’ll listen, I will share. Growing up I was Daddy’s Princess, and Mommas Cowgirl. This time last year you wouldn’t have caught me in a church, or speaking at a camp. I loved to party, go out with friends, and be, what i deemed, a “normal teenage girl”. Through some very tragic events, and heartbreak, I learned I was by far not a Normal Teenage Girl. In October of 2009 My father, who is my hero and best friend, was diagnosed with cancer. Seven short months later, God took him home. Struggling with this, I was invited to be a student leader at an Angelsong Ministries Camp, and I accepted. Later Shala told me how much my father talked about me getting involved with this ministry. Through late night talks and many many tears later, I made a new best friend, Becca Foster, a new mother, Shala Martin-Smalley, and I came closer to God. God is now working through me, helping me speak to students and adults to share my story. My one advice to everyone is Never Give Up, God is always there.

Sincerely, Sara Marie.”

My Story on How God helped Me Through Barrel Racing!

The story on how God helped in order to find the horse that best matched me, would have to had start when i first met a women named Shala Martin Smalley.  We found her in one of their brochures that they had out.  So, we went to meet her and the first thing i thought is this women has a BIG heart. Shala along with Sherman (the shermanator) both helped me when i needed to know what it felt like to ride again. When i first started Barrel Racing, i wasnt very sure on how i was going to do.  But when i met Shala and Sherman i knew that i now had a very NEW Passion. There was one other person who also helped me figure out that i definately wanted to do this. This person was God. I always complained on how i didnt have a horse and that i thought i would never find a horse that best suited ME! But with the help of Shala, my parents, shermy and most importantly GOD, i got through the training and was off to my first NBHA. The first thing i told to sherman before we ran our run is Sherman do this for Yourself to show that you still have it. And once again do it for me and GOD, and all the people who helped me get here. So then after i got done whispering this sentence into his ear, I gave him a kick and off we were. We then got a 22 sec. that day and people were surprised.  i myself was surprised on how sherman did that good. You know it is pretty cool being a barrel racer. I think it is the special thing that God picked out for me to do. You know my second barrel race i was thankful that God made such good people in the world. If He had not then i would have been sitting at home that day. You see Sherman hurt his leg from being off like a week, and by the time it was time for my second barrel race, i could no longer ride him.  So the loving Shala did what she is good at doing and that is knowing every body. She sent out an e-mail asking people if i could borrow their horses to ride in my big race. Well we got a ton of emails saying that i could use their horses. Well this real nice lady that i knew i have met before named Sandy let me ride her horse Wrap, a beautiful black and white gelding. I was so thankful for her and God and Shala. They all worked so hard just to let me ride in my big Race. Me and Wrap ended up getting along very well. We waited our turn in the race and turned the HEAT on. WE got 19 secs. and ended up getting 1st in the 12 and under class... I was so excited i still till this day i cannot thank Sandy enough for letting me ride her beautiful horse. (Thanks AGAIN!) But then from the very first day i started riding in barrel racing i always prayed and talked to GOD telling him how much i wanted a horse of my own. Till the day of june like 25 i prayed and talked and prayed and talked to God on and on.  How i needed a horse. But then i was off to my dads and i was still praying. Until the one day that i had gotten a phone call from my mother telling me that they had finally got me a barrel horse named Rusty. I screamed in HAPPINESS that i had finally got one. Shala was like i told you so i told you that GOD has given you a gift and that He had a special horse picked out for you. And that is the story on how wonderful GOD is on giving me these wonderful people and horses and their loving hearts in order to get me through not having a horse of my own. I can not thank them enough once again for their kindness and generosity. Thanks Again To all those people. Shala, mom, dad, and Sandy and all those other people.

Carlie!

Thanks Shala... Hope to see you at a barrel racing or playday. We are on our way to Nobel tonight. Went to Kingfisher last night. BBR Buckle Series at Shawnee Playboy Arena on Monday nights. Taylor is doing awesome! In Choctaw last Thursday she won all events...barrels, poles, flags and stakes! (i think it was Choctaw...she did it in Nobel a couple of weekends ago too!) You're a great trainer, she's a great athelete, and she has an awesome horse...triple threat! She is now running barrel times in line with the adults! Poles are coming along...a 27 last night but tipped the last pole, as did I! Thanks for all your help, you're the best!
Sincerely, Ronda Gilbert, Luther

When you think of rodeo, you think of the competition side of it. Few people realize the other aspects of rodeo. I know a lot more of the “other” aspects because I am the world’s youngest rodeo announcer at the age of 14. You may think little about it but if you knew that I have worked rodeos in Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and was offered the job of going to announce 90 performances at the famous Cody Night Rodeo in Cody, Wyoming, you might wonder a little more.

I also have experience as a pro-rodeo sound technician in Michigan, Missouri, Alabama, and Oklahoma. I can also drive a tractor pretty well; I have worked for Wild Notions Barrel Productions in Claremore, OK as well as at the 2007 and 2008 He Paid Your Fees Barrel Race in Claremore and Shawnee, OK.

In my careers, it is all about dreaming big and shooting for the stars and Angelsong Ministries Inc. helps you do just that. They teach you that ALL things are possible through Christ, our savior, and I have gotten the pleasure of getting to know and work for Pastor Shala Martin-Smalley at the HPYF Races. She and her crew will help you find Christ even better than you thought you already knew him. It has definitely changed my life not only as a Christian Cowboy but also as a person just going and listening to her preach at that one race a year.

It is definitely one of the highlights of my year to go work for Shala and I am very proud to be a part of the HPYF Barrel Races.

Just a note to thank you for your hard work and effort you put in to spread God's message.  I was blessed at your church service and was glad that I had decided to come (even before my horse ran so good).

God blessed me with a great run.  The buckle was beautiful and I am very proud of it.

Thanks again.

Shala, We enjoyed Claremore so much!  Thank You for letting us come.

A big special thank you, goes out to Garret and his brother for the tractor driving.

We didn't see horses stumble or fall, he did a fantastic job.

A big thank you to the barrel setters also. They stayed all day.

Lynn was very very good too.  I guess I should have told her.

She mentioned people wanted to talk to her just because of her championships, and her buckle, I didn't want her to think I was one of those.

She did a fantastic job. She is soooooooo blessed.

Thanks again for letting us come.

Bless you, and every one involved with your ministry.

Sandy (Cousins)

We were so impressed by the service and the beautiful prizes, wish we could have brought home one of those beautiful purple saddles! We had a great time and I keep re-playing Lynn's words over and over in my mind, and sharing her words with anyone that'll listen. So we really didn't come home empty-handed after all!

I have been meaning to e-mail you since the HPYF barrel race in Ok.
I want you to know I had the best time at Claremore. I didn't win any
money, but to be able to come and worship God with fellow barrel racers
was priceless. I missed revival at my church due to our state finals, so
being able to be lifed up through your ministry was such a blessing. I
just wanted to take a minute to thank you for all your hard work and for
all that you do to lead this ministry. I pray God bless you and your
family.
Thank you again,
Christy English
